Mission Exploitation Platform - MEP

National and regional governments often compare current values of vegetation and rainfall indicators to longer-term statistics. To this end, the PROBA-V MEP’s Time Series Viewer application visualizes a few basic statistics (min/max/average), that are pre-computed and aggregated at the level of countries and one administrative level smaller (as determined by UN-FAO’s Global Administrative Unit Layer – GAUL).
Moreover, local users such as farmers, are likely interested in comparing the vegetation conditions or productivity for their small areas, both with the multi-year time series and nation-wide or regional averages.
For this, the Time Series Viewer offers the capability of computing, on-the-fly using Big Data techniques (Hadoop), the current values and long-term statistics for custom selected areas (polygons or points).
This image shows a snapshot of the NDVI statistics for specific regions in France, for 2017.
